Crayside Consulting is a Building Services Consulting Engineering practise, specialising in offering design services, expertise and advice to the transportation sector, focusing primarily on the Rail sector. We can offer complete "design" and "build" services, in conjunction with our affiliated businesses (KH Engineering Services).
We pride ourselves on ensuring that our designs are buildable, energy efficient, compliant and above all safe, which is of critical importance in the Rail sector.
We can also offer design expertise in other sectors such as Residential, Education, Healthcare, commercial and industrial.
We have worked on a variety of projects of rail projects, which include Station improvements (National Stations Improvement Programme - NSIP), Access For All schemes (AFA), Depots, Junction Lighting, Signalling Centres, Rail Operating Centres (ROC), Platform extensions, etc.
We understand the vigorous design approval process expected by Network Rail and Train Operating Companies (TOC) and are familiar with the various forms of approval adopted by the different Network Rail Routes, i.e. Form A/B, Form EA/EB, Form F001, F002 and F003. We have procedures in place to follow the engineering assurance process set out in NR/L2/CIV/003 and have in house Network Rail approved “Contractors Responsible Engineer” (CRE). We are also in the process of approval to act as Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM).

Matt is an experienced Chartered Engineer with many years’ experience (28 yrs) in building services design and project management. He has particular expertise and extensive experience of working in the rail sector (over 12 years).
Matt is the Managing Director of Crayside Consulting.
Matt has a proven track record of fostering close working relationships within the industry and has a clear understanding of what Network Rail, TOC's & Contractors want and delivering on those requirements.
Matt is a recognized expert in the Rail sector and has acted as an Expert Witness in that regard.
Matt’s particular skills include Railway installation design and clear understanding of requirements, project management, business development, design of power distribution, standby and mains conditioning systems, lighting, fire alarm, etc. This coupled with his appreciation of mechanical and public health services and practical background ensures projects are delivered successfully. Matt has acted as CRE on the majority of the rail projects he has worked on.
Matt has worked in the UK and overseas on; railway stations, data centres, financial institutions, offices & shops, airports, private houses plus numerous schools/university schemes.
