In 2020 MegaTech Projects Ltd and BAM Nuttall worked tirelessly to transform Sandwich station ahead of the 149th British Open. MPL completed 2nr 100m platform extensions, whilst BAM completed the adjoining walkway and footbridge in a tight contract turnover period due to the deadlines imposed by the ‘The Open’.
Unfortunately, a day after the project was completed the 149th British Open was postponed until 2021 due to Covid 19. This never took away from the pride all involved shared in the project. We had another year to look forward to our new platforms being utilised for the biggest golfing event on the UK circuit after all.
The 149th open finally arrived in July 2021 and did not disappoint. The big boys were all up there. John Ramm (Current PGA Tour Number 1) and Jordan Spieth fell a little short to Colin Morikawa who won his second major, setting himself among the favourites for the gold at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics in the process. Bruce Koepka and Dustin Johnson were also competing.
MPL are overjoyed to play our little part in improving the experience of the guests at the oldest major competition in the history of golf. Working relentlessly to push through 2nr 100m EPS platform extensions in a matter of months for the 149th annual British Open to get cancelled the day after you finish…Well, it’s all par for the course isn’t it.
