Platform progress at Ashley Down much appreciated by City Mayor!
In June 2023, working alongside Bam Nuttall, and under the watchful eye of city Mayor Marvin Rees, MegaTech Projects Ltd Installed over 260 metres of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) platform system in just 4 days.
The 2nr platforms, some areas of which were up to 6 metres wide, housed the platform drainage, M&E and shaped around the stations new lift shaft and Pedestrian footbridge. Despite the on-site obstacles and housing multiple construction disciplines the 2nr platforms took a total of 8nr working shifts.
Despite the material storage compound being located 1km down track from the new station and there being approximately 300nr EPS blocks and slabs (50% of which were individual variations) to be transported, MPL achieved greater than our minimum installation rate of 2 linear metres per hour and delivered both platforms ahead of programme.
It was a pleasure for MPL to work alongside the MetroWest Phase 2 Combined Authority (Great Western Railways, Bam Nuttall, Network Rail and Bristol City Council). Ashley Down brings the total platform metreage completed on MPL and Bam Nuttall projects to more than 800 metres!
