Cambridge North

VolkerFitzpatrick were awarded the Contract to construct a fully new complete station and access route for Cambridge North Station.

With Abellio as the Train Operating Company, MegaTech Projects Ltd were awarded the contract to complete the Form 3 Civils Design, supply and install over 1,000m of EPS blocks and precast units.

The platforms had to be completed during pre-planned weekend blockades and had to incorporate integration with Lift shafts, footbridges, UTX’s and service routes. With careful co-ordination from the Main Designers, Atkins, and excellent on-site programming by VFL the works were completed in time for the first train which stopped at the station as part of the new timetable in May 2017.

With over 500 individual EPS blocks and precast slab units this has been the largest scale project completed by MPL to date.
