Newark Northgate station development works are part of Carillion's Intercity Express Platforms (IEP) Programme which includes Stevenage, Northallerton, Darlington, Durham and Grantham.

Design and installation are now complete.

The station has introduced many new challenges. With an extension length of 38m, the RAM asked MegaTech Projects to remove and replace the existing timber trestle platform (28m) which had outlived its shelf life.

However, to comply with East Coast's (Train Operating Company) requirement that the full 28m had to be fully operational at all times, MegaTech & Carillion had to carry out the works in three sections over three Saturday night possessions/isolations.

MegaTech Projects & Carillion could only commence works if it was certain that the full section would be replaced and fully operational before the possession was handed back.

East Coast's requirements were fully met and the platform section remained fully operational throughout the replacement and extension of the platforms.
