Oakengates

Christmas came twice for the Oakengates residents who when returning from their Christmas holidays would have got a nice surprise at their local station. In the December 2021 ‘Christmas Shutdown’ MPL completed the installation of 2nr 30m platform extensions at Oakengates station in just 30 hours.

With an old coal mine running beneath the station MPL’s lightweight EPS platform system was perfectly suited for the Oakengates project. Working alongside Dyer and Butler, delivering to the client GA, MPL installed the 2 platforms within 3 shifts. No additional construction works were required due to the minimal ground bearing pressure requirement of the MPL system.
