Sanderstead Platform Extensions

MegaTech Projects Ltd are delighted to confirm that the inaugural installation of the Network Rail approved MegaTech EPS system has recently been completed at Sanderstead in Surrey.

Geoffrey Osborne Limited were awarded the Main Contract, as part of the MAFA Framework, and MegaTech Projects Ltd were awarded the subcontract to supply and install the polystyrene system.

Throughout the installation the design was fine tuned to the specific requirements of Network Rail although the conceptual design remained as (a) 50mm sand screed, (b) EPS base block, and (c) Precast reinforced concrete slab.

The completed platform demonstrated to Network Rail the benefits of the system as the base and slab are all pre-fabricated and it was further demonstrated that the full slab length could be installed under one standard weekend Rules of the Route Possession (5.50 hours working time).

As with all standard platform extensions, Sanderstead was able to accommodate Network Rail's lighting, CCTV and LLPA requirements which were all incorporated into the precast slabs.
