You probably thought installing a 161 metre long x 3.3 metre wide railway platform extension in 55 hours was impossible. But this is exactly what MegaTech Projects Ltd achieved with our Expanded Polystyrene Platform System (EPS) at Ware Station in August 2022.

Within a blockade which saw MPL install a total of 370 metres of EPS platform extensions in just 5 days, MPL faced some challenges in design and installation due to the tight NR boundaries at the rear of the platform and the single track line through the station restricting the speed of material supply to the work site.

Despite this MPL’s minimum installation rate of 2 linear metres per hour was surpassed and an operational platform was in place by the end of the August blockade.

As always, MPL were delighted to play our small part in Greater Anglia’s wider £1.4 billion upgrade scheme on the Hertford East line. Working alongside Main contractor Keltbray MPL installed the 161m platform which will allow for the introduction of a brand new fleet of 10 car trains to serve residents along the route.
